Malka Aboriginal Art Prize – 2026

The Malka Aboriginal Art Prize was established by the late Mr Marvin McKenzie Senior, a visionary leader who created a platform for Aboriginal artists to share their cultural stories and connection to Country through art. The word ‘Malka’, meaning ‘mark’ or ‘painting’, comes from local Aboriginal languages and reflects the rich cultural heritage of the Port Augusta region.

Now in its 17th year, the Prize is a well-established art and culture event in Port Augusta, celebrating Aboriginal artists of all ages from the Far North, Mid North, and Eyre Peninsula regions. The exhibition promotes artistic excellence, cultural exchange, inclusion, and community pride, with strong support from artists, local organisations, sponsors, and Port Augusta City Council.
