Solar & Sun 2026

Artists are invited to be part of the 2026 Solar & Sun Sculpture Exhibition, an opportunity to showcase your work in the stunning surrounds of the Australian Arid Lands Botanic Garden. Following the success of the 2024 exhibition, which attracted over 9,000 visitors and widespread acclaim, this unique event celebrates creativity inspired by the themes of solar energy, light, and sustainability. Set against a breathtaking natural backdrop, the exhibition offers a powerful platform to explore environmental ideas through sculpture, connect with new audiences, and be part of a growing community of artists passionate about art and climate.

Entries in the 2026 SOLAR & SUN Sculpture Exhibition are eligible for:

  • $12,000 - 2026 Grand Prize Winner – sponsored by Potentia Energy.
  • $2,500 - People’s Choice Award
  • $1,000 - Youth/Junior Award (17 years or under as at 6/3/2026)
  • $1000 – School Award (this prize will be paid to the winning school)


Note: All exhibitors are eligible for the 2026 SOLAR & SUN Sculpture Exhibition Grand Prize Award.

Conditions of Entry

To be considered for selection:

  • Sculptors/Artists must reside in South Australia
  • The creator MUST comply with all entry instructions and conditions.
  • Entry forms MUST be submitted online or by email.
  • Original sculptures MUST be delivered to the Australian Arid Lands Botanic Garden between the specified delivery dates, AFTER the online entry form has been completed.

Please note that;

  • Individuals and group sculptures are permitted.
  • Schools are encouraged to participate by entering a sculpture.
  • Sculptures must be submitted on behalf of the artist.
  • Sculptures are not permitted on behalf of a private business.

Key Dates

  • Completion of online entry – by 5:00 pm Friday 6th March 2026.
  • Delivery of sculpture to the gardens – 26th and 27th March 2026.
  • Exhibition Opening – Saturday 28th March 2026 (10.30am)
  • Exhibition of sculptures – 28th March 2026 until 21st May 2026
  • Sculptures available for sale – 28th March 2026 until 21st May 2026
  • Award Presentation – 2:00pm -3.30pm Thursday 21st May 2026
  • Collection of sculptures (by artist or buyer) – 22nd May 2026 (8am-10am) or 25th May – 27th May 2026 (8am-2pm)
